"TRYING TO BE A THAI"

Our photos from the Thai Culture Seminar at Innovative Solutions, Co. last March 6,7&8, 2009. The first day was answering the pre-test in our school, the second day was a field trip and the third day was the seminar proper.......See them below!

What is the difference of Thailand from your country? What is one word description of Thailand? What is your impression of this country? These were some of the questions that we answered before we attended the Thai Culture Seminar.
As a teacher and a foreigner of this "Land of Smile", we are asked to attend a seminar to be able to understood their culture and experienced for two to three days on how to be a Thai. We started last Friday, 6th of March by answering the pre-test (7 pages) sent through e-mail. We grouped ourselves in three and I was with Mina and Bhing's group. We helped each other in answering and Bhing contributed trough her drawing of the map of Thailad. The seminar consisted of 20 hours tackling about
Thai dance, Thai music, Thai musical instruments, Thai manner and professional Ethics. For the lattest topic, we talked about the Teachers code of Conduct, had Q & A, relating of one's experiences and were able to summarize the topic through pasting sub-topics to the major topics posted on the wall. We were asked to group ourselves into three, the green team (Mina, Tristan, Bhing, I and Beth), the pink team and the blue team. At the first, we were having the highest points but it came out at the end that the winners are the two other teams by 1 point. "Sia jai" - feeling sorry ---this was the feeling felt by Tristan because he transfered one subtopic to other major topic knowing that it's wrong but lastly it's correct. We held our Thai culture Seminar at Innovative Solutions, Co. with Miss Supatcha and the old professor who was always being consulted for every topic. At the first day, we experienced Thai Dancing and playing their musical instruments. In the afternoon, we went to Museum Siam where we answered a back to back paper full of questions that need our explanation. it's really tiring but quite okay. For the second day, we talked about proper doing of "wai", experience to do it in different levels and in the afternoon, the Thai Professional Ethics. We started at 9:00 am and finished at 6:00 pm.It's a nice seminar! Kap Khun Kha, Miss Pat!
